Psoriasis and Dating: Nobody’s Perfect pSo & You

Dating can be challenging in the “best” of circumstances, and you’ve probably heard all that jazz about having to go through a few trial-and-error experiments. But if you’re living with psoriasis and other skin conditions, it can sometimes feel like you’re the experimental project. Yep, it adds an extra layer of anxiety and unwanted stress – stress that usually only aggravates the situation, and – yikes – the flare-ups too! But dating with psoriasis isn’t something to shy away from. So forget canceling a date to stay home binge-watching Netflix series, especially when you have a flare-up or particularly bad case of psoriasis - plus you can always catch your fave show AFTER the date, or even better, find someone to watch them WITH under a blanket! Be bold, be you, and remember everyone has their insecurities.

“A big part of dating is searching for that person, who will be accepting, supportive, understanding and will look past your scaly skin and dry patches to the beautiful you.”

From weight to acne to stretch marks or cellulite (*gasp*) – most of us are concerned about our looks and the day our “flaws” will come to light. But a big part of dating is searching for that person, who will be accepting, supportive, understanding and will look past your scaly skin and dry patches to the beautiful you. More likely than not, your date will have their own insecurities, especially if they’re meeting someone as fabulous as you! And if you have the right connection, as time goes by, you’ll feel comfortable discussing and sharing them.

So the next time you get nervous about dating or putting yourself out there – remember that nobody’s perfect, and let yourself experience the fun (#yolo) and excitement of meeting new people – and instead of waiting for that person to come, go on out there and get ‘em!

How do you deal with dating? Tell me your best dating stories and put a smile on my face.

Well, off for my girl’s night out – and hopefully I’ll run into some hotties Later!
